Biographical Sketch

Pierrette Gaudreau, PhD, is Chief of the Laboratory of the Neuroendocrinology of Aging at the Centre hospitalier de l'Universit� de Montr�al Research Centre. She is a full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal. She held junior, senior and national scholarships from FRSQ. She is affiliated with the Departments of Physiology and Biochemistry and with the molecular biology program of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Montreal. She is also affiliated with the McGill Centre for Studies in Aging and with the Institut universitaire de g�riatrie de Montr�al Research Centre. She was Co-Director of the Nutrition and Successful Aging Research Section of the Quebec Network for Research on Aging from 1998 to 2006. She is Co-Director of the "Aging rat colonies" infrastructure of this Network since 1995 and Co-Director the NuAge cohort strategic initiative since 2003 and Associate Director of the Network since 2003. She is member or president of a number of institutional committees. She is Scientific Advisor at the FRSQ since 1993, and member of the scientific advisory board of the Society of Neuroendocrinology of France since 2006.

Dr Gaudreau's research is funded by FRSQ, CIHR, and the private sector. She has published close to 130 manuscripts and hold Canadian, USA and international patents on markers for peptide receptors, superagonists for growth hormone-releasing factor receptors and growth hormone-releasing hormone as a novel renoprotective peptide.

Research Interests

Her present research is mainly in the field of the peptide receptor systems and neuroendocrinology of aging and is aimed at studying molecular and cellular central and peripheral mechanisms contributing to somatopause and sarcopenia and to develop nutritional and/or pharmacological interventions contributing to healthy and successful aging.
