Biographical Sketch

Dr Carpentier is associate professor and clinician-scientist in the Departments of Medicine and Physiology, Faculty of Medicine at the Universit� de Sherbrooke, and director of the University's Centre de recherche en endocrinologie, m�tabolisme et signalisation. He is also staff endocrinologist in the Department of Medicine at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke.

His research funding includes grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA), the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC). Dr Carpentier is also the recipient of a Fonds de la recherche en sant� du Qu�bec (FRSQ) Senior Scholarship (2009-2013).

Dr Carpentier has been a member of numerous scientific panels for granting agencies including the CDA, CIHR, FRSQ and HSFC. Dr Carpentier has published more than 170 peer-reviewed abstracts and communications and 61 other peer-reviewed publications. He is the recipient for multiple awards, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec's Jonathan-Ballon Award (2004) and the 2009 Andr�-Dupont Young Scientist Award of the Club de recherche clinique du Qu�bec.

Research Interests

Dr Carpentier's research interests include the investigation of postprandial fatty acid metabolism in the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
