MDRC Core Facilities

MDRC seeks to provide researchers with the best resources possible to foster leading-edge research and collaborations. Hence, a number of key activities have been centralized into service cores to optimize the use of collective resources, and maximize the leverage power of our funds. These cores offer services to both MDRC researchers and the scientific community at large. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Rodent Physiology

  • Diabetic rodent models
  • Surgeries, organs and tissues collection
  • Rodent islet isolation
  • In vivo tests (GTT, ITT clamps)
  • Rodent phenotyping
  • Organ perfusion (pancreas, heart and liver)

Please contact [email protected] or visit CRCHUM core facilities web pages for more information.

Cellular Physiology

  • Quantification of insulin, c-peptide, glucagon, TNF-a & many other analytes in plasma and cell media using ELISA or AlphaLISA
  • beta- & alpha-cell mass quantifications as well as proliferation measurements using immunohistochemistry
  • Quantification of apoptosis, proliferation, migration, protein translocation & mitochondrial mass on the cellular imager Operetta
  • O2 consumption, CO2 production and glycolysis flux measurements using the XF24 analyzer (Seahorse)

Please contact [email protected] or visit CRCHUM core facilities web pages for more information.

Clinical Research

  • Metabolic investigations in humans
  • Nutritional interventions
  • Lifestyle behavioural research

Metabolomics

  • Small metabolite quantification (energy equivalents, organic acids, amino acids, etc) by targeted LC-MS/MS
  • Lipidomics: Free fatty acid profiling & Quantification of 2-AG, MAG and acyl-CoA
  • HPLC & LC-MS/MS services

Please contact [email protected] or visit CRCHUM core facilities web pages for more information.

Human Islets

  • Provide human islets of Langerhans and other pancreatic tissues

Please contact [email protected] or visit our website www.isletlab.org for more information.
